June Language Course, With August Following (Written August '09)
During the month of June, our team here in Cerro Azul, Veracruz prepared a 1 month English Course for locals here in the town. The purpose of the language school was to both equip the locals with the ability to communicate in English as well as it was an open door for us to be able to get to know people better here in the town.
The course was a success! We had 14 students attend the school. Some of the people were individuals from different local churches, while others were local business owners, students, or Petroleum workers.
It was a great opportunity for us to get more involved in the lives of others here in town. Through the school we were able to make better friendships, as well as better educate them in another language.
Currently, we are planning a Phase 2 English course that will start in the end of August. Our hopes are that we will be able to once again be able to speak into the lives of the students, as well as better educate them in their language skills.
